Unfiltered Story #249601

I was at a book fair with my school’s book club that I am a member in and we were currently eating from the provided buffet after the book prizes had just been awarded.
There were about 3 of my friends at a standing table with me, when two of these friends had to use the restroom.
I offered to look after the bags since I didn’t have to go.
I didn’t know the last remaining friend very well and he is reading so we don’t continue the conversation.

As I’m standing there I suddenly feel a tap on my shoulder and when I turn there is a middle-aged woman standing there.
She’s holding a card and pointing to it and I can hear she is speaking with an accent so I assume she’s asking me for help with something.
There are an address, a phone number and an email address on the card.
While listening and trying to decipher her problem with it I finally understand that she is trying to give me the card to help with my “problem”.
I’m 14 and have acne on most of my face but I’ve personally never really had an issue with that.
When I realize what she’s doing I politely thank her and take the card, mostly to get rid of her.
As she’s giving it to me I see my friends return and they are now standing behind me at the table again.
After the woman has turned and is walking back away I literally spin on the spot and tell my friends of the encounter, all while stressing how rude I found her behaviour.
My friends were pretty shocked but I decided to laugh it off rather than spend to much time thinking about it and having it affect my self-esteem.

Thinking about it now roughly 2 years later I don’t really care for here referring to my face as a problem.
I just found it extremely rude of her to actually strike up a conversation solely on the topic of her trying to sell me something to fix something she saw as a problem with me and I never made any comment on wanting to fix ever, and certainly not in a way she would then have known about.

When I was in my first year at university, I shared a flat with six other girls. Two of us were classmates and wanted to study, one decided to drop out of her classes to party, and the other four partied hard and that was all I knew about them.

One morning I went to the common room to make breakfast when I found myself looking at a temporary sign warning of police ahead. I realised my flatmates had come across this while clubbing, and had taken it home with them.

At a loss at what to do, I took the sign onto the main road, thankful that I wasn’t spotted. Fortunately it must have been reported and collected, because it wasn’t out for long.

While going home I dropped by the nearest bookstore there which uses red designs as interior design.

while strolling inside,
Random Student to me: Excuse me, where are your notebooks?
Me: Uhmmmm, they’re at the other end of the store?

Random student realizes Im wearing my School Id which we both immediately realized we came from the same school. He immediately left me after that realizing the embarrassment he ensued.

Who would’ve have though I look like one of the employees at that bookstore?!

I was sexually assaulted on the job. A police report was filed. The customer had sexually harassed me before, however I didn’t report it at the time because I was afraid he would try to damage my reputation, and that the company would hold me responsible. A week after my assault, I get this call from our head office:

Head office: Is this [My Name]?

Me: Yes it is.

Head office: Great! This is [Name] from head office! I think we met when you were hired.

Me: Yes, I believe so.

Head office: So I’m calling because we had a complaint about your misconduct. So we’re suspending you until further notice pending investigation.

Me: Are you serious?! Is this about the incident on [date]?

Head office: No no, the police are handling that. It’s a separate incident.

Me: Does it involve the same client? And the disclosures I’ve made about the events leading up to the rape?

Head office: It is not about the incident on [date].

Me: But is it the same customer making a complaint?

Head office: We’re not at liberty to say. But let me tell you something, one professional to another, you failed at your job when you didn’t report the first signs of harassment. This wouldn’t have happened to you if you knew what it was like to be a professional.

Me: Are you serious?! Forget this. I quit!

I later found out that yes, my attacker made a complaint against me when he had gotten served with a protection order. He was retaliating and the company felt it was more important to give him a voice than to stand by their employees.

It was pouring rain and I stopped at a big coffee chain to find shelter. I had only a 50$ bill and no credit card on me. Before ordering I asked the barista if I could pay with this. He said no, unfortunately he didn’t have any change in his till.
He then told me to hold on while he went to grab his wallet and break the bill for me so I could buy a drink.
He made my day, if you ever read this and recognize yourself thank you so much again !!
