Welcome To Retail, Part 7

It’s my first day working at a big retail store that sells a bit of everything. Most of my initiation has been at the back, meeting managers and learning the place first. We are walking into a managers’ office, where a group of managers and supervisors are working. My trainer is about to introduce me to their boss.

Trainer: “Excuse me, [Manager #1]. This is [My Name] and she’s just star—”

Manager #1: *Angrily* “Not now!”

He leaves the room in a hurry.

Trainer: *To another manager* “Wow, is he okay?”

Manager #2: “Oh, he’s fine. He’s just trying to identify the person who approved the warranty refund on a vacuum cleaner with a canister full of puke.”

Trainer: *Blinks.* “Okay then.”

My trainer turns to me.

Trainer: “Tomorrow, you get to work with customers. Good luck!”
