In Line And Out Of Line, Part 26
There is a longer-than-usual line at our checkouts, but so far, most customers have been quite patient. A woman with a basket, carrying her child (maybe three years old?) tries to push to the front.
Customer: “Excuse me, can I go next? I have a baby.”
Next Customer: “No, I’m in a rush.”
Customer: “But I have a baby.”
Next Customer: “And I’m in a rush. I’m glad we cleared that up.”
The customer then stomps over to me as I am trying to check out the current customer.
Customer: “Can I go next? I have a baby.”
Me: “No, ma’am. You have to wait your turn in line.”
Customer: “But I have a baby.”
Next Customer: “You have a baby? Ma’am, since none of us here f***ed you, I don’t see how it’s our problem. Wait your turn.”
The customer gasped, then glared, and then went to the back of the line.
