Retail Not Being A Daycare Is Not A-Parent
A family is shopping and the parents approach me.
Parent: “We need you to kick our sixteen-year-old son out of the store.”
Me: *Blinks* “What for?”
Parent: “He isn’t listening to us, and we’ve told him it’s time to go home! He’s blonde and—”
Me: “I’m not going to search the store to tell him it’s time to go home.”
Parent: “Then he’s your responsibility once we’ve left!”
I don’t think they know how having kids works. This wasn’t a quick conversation, either. It was probably a good five minutes of them being surprised that I would not parent their child.
