Cold Caller

Our call centre proudly states that we have agents who can speak not only English, French, and Spanish, but a couple of Canadian indigenous languages also (Inuktitut and Cree). We also get calls from third parties who represent our clients and call on their behalf.

Caller: “My client speaks Saami.”

Me: “I’m afraid we don’t have any agents that speak that language.”

Caller: “You said you spoke the indigenous languages!”

Me: “Yes, for Canada. I would need to look it up, but Saami is an indigenous language from Finland, yes?”

Caller: “That’s right.”

Me: “That’s not in Canada.”

Caller: “It’s all people who speak in the cold, though, ain’t it?”
