If You’re Reading This, Call Your Mother! (If Applicable)
It’s my mom’s birthday. I’ve recently gotten a big assignment at work, so I’m swamped as I type away on my computer, the thought of birthdays the furthest thing from my mind.
Fortunately, before it’s too late, my dad sends me a text.
Dad: “Don’t forget to call your mother for her birthday!”
I can obviously spare a few minutes for a call, so I do so as soon as I get the text.
Me: “Hi, Mom! Happy birthday! Sorry I’m calling so late!”
Mom: “Thank you for the call. Did your father call to remind you?”
Me: “He did not.”
Mom: “Oh, good. I’m glad that he didn’t have to remind you of your own mother’s birthday.”
Me: “Technically, he texted me.”
We had a nice little conversation, and I’ll never forget that absolutely perfect setup line she delivered me.
