I Would Do Anything For Customers, But I Won’t Do That

, , , | Right | March 9, 2022

The store is scheduled to close in an hour. A customer approaches me angrily.

Customer: “Why don’t you have the meatloaf meal outside?”

Me: “My apologies for the inconvenience. Unfortunately, we sold them earlier in the day so we no longer have them. Was there something that you would like instead?”

Customer: “No! I want that meal! Go and make it for me right now!”

Me: “Unfortunately, I am unable to do that during this time. The store will be closing in an hour and all our ovens are being cleaned at the moment. It is physically impossible to do it. I’m sorry.”

Customer: “Well… what if I die tonight? What if that’s the last thing I eat?!”

Me: “Uh… please don’t say that? I can help you look for something else if you’d like?”

Customer: “No! You’re no help at all!”

The customer leaves.

Coworker: “D***, that’s pretty sad if that’s the meal he wants to eat last!”
