Doesn’t Have The Disc-Drive To Understand

, , , , | Right | December 15, 2022

It is the early days of the Internet. An elderly customer comes in and slams a laptop and an AOL disk on the counter.

Customer: “I spent $600 on this on this, and the CD drive doesn’t even read any discs!”

Me: “I’m sorry you’re having issues with it, sir. I will look into this for you.”

Customer: “You call yourself a tech?! You can’t see right now? The disc is in plain view of the computer and it’s not reading!”

Me: “Sir, the disc needs to be inserted into the CD tray in order for the computer to recognize it.”

Customer: *Embarrassed but trying to recover* “Well, they don’t make that obvious!”

Later, I had to tell my manager that we needed to make it more obvious to potential customers that CDs didn’t transfer their data wirelessly to the computer.
