The Work-Stream Of Consciousness Has To Stop Sometime
I am a freelance copywriter. I spend today sending proposals to potential clients and negotiating prices with them. This particular client and I have been messaging back and forth for a while, during which time I have his work-stream open and respond within a minute to every question.
Client: “Your prices are a bit high. Is there any wiggle room? My budget is $150.”
Me: “Sure, I can do it for $150. Let me edit the proposal.”
I edit the proposal and send it. At this point, it is 10:00 pm, so I go to bed.
The next morning, I wake up to two messages. The first was sent at 2:30 am.
Client: “Hi. Can you send your Skype details for a quick chat before I accept your proposal?”
The next message was sent at 3:00 am.
Client: “PROPOSAL DECLINED. REASON: Freelancer is unresponsive and does not answer queries.”
I apologised for sleeping and closed the stream.
