Unfiltered Story #249400

, , , | Unfiltered | December 12, 2021

We have a relative staying with us after he got an infection after surgery, each day a nurse comes to put fresh dressings on. He puts the old dressings and bandages into a rubbish bag and leaves it by his chair, the nurse also places anything used during the visit. Every day I take the bag out to the bin but he always leaves it down the far side of his chair where I can’t get it. For the record, this man is not mentally deficient in any way.

Me “Can you pass me the bag, please?”

Relative ” Bag? What bag?”

Me “The rubbish bag”

Relative “um rubbish?”

Me “The. Bag. With. The. Old. Dressings.”

Relative *surprised “Oh” *looks down at the bag and does a double take as if he’s shocked that it’s there “Oh you want this bag? What for?”

Me “Uh, yes, I need to take it out to the bin”

Relative “Oh ok”

Literally, every day for the past two months, the same conversation.
