I am helping a customer find something that her doctor recommended
Customer: I’m looking for this specific product but the PM version.
Me: I’m only seeing the regular version on the shelf. Give me one second to look up the item and see if we still carry it.
I do so and I see that the item was taken out of stock a while ago.
Me: I’m sorry ma’am but we no longer carry this product.
Customer: BECAUSE?
Me: I’m sorry but I don’t know ma’am. This wasn’t the store’s decision but a corporate one. Perhaps it wasn’t selling enough or the company itself discontinued its product.
Customer: Well my doctor told me to specifically get that one. Now, what am I supposed to do?
Me: Well there are other brand options you can choose from. I’m sorry but there’s nothing I can really do.
Customer: Fine, I’ll get this one but I’m not happy about it.
