Unfiltered Story #212895

My first trip as a Boy Scout involved a day off canoeing down the Oklahoma River. I was twelve at the time, and my partner was eleven, and half my size.
Midway through the trip, we all got out of the boats, and did some swimming.
When we got back into the boats, my partner got to ours first. I only got one foot in before the current caught our canoe, and sent it forward. I slipped and got my leg stuck between the wall and the seat.
I couldn’t get my head above the water, my partner couldn’t lift me, and we were at the back of the group.
I felt a hand grip my shoulder and pull me the rest of the way into the canoe. By the time I got the chance to look, whoever it was had gone down a different fork in the river. My partner told me it was a group of older ladies in a raft.
I never forgot this, but I didn’t get the chance to thank the people who saved me, either.
