(I work in a popular party supply store. Our return policy is that if it’s after thirty days, we give a merchandise credit. There’s only one merchandise credit slip, so if someone doesn’t have it, there’s nothing we can do. A customer comes in with a receipt showing she bought items with a merchandise credit and wants to use the balance left over for her current transaction. I explain why she can’t, but she isn’t having any of it. I call my manager and she goes over to him, where he says the same thing I said. She comes back to me still upset and I try to explain again.)

Me: “I’m sorry, ma’am, but there’s nothing we can do. Our machines need the barcode on the original credit to be able to process it.”

Customer: “Oh go shove it up your nose.”

(I’ve been cursed at before at this job, but it’s the first time someone has used anything remotely creative!)
