When “Never Coming Back!” Comes Back To Haunt Them

Customer: “I can’t find my [Brand] oatmeal! Where is it?!”

Me: “I’m sorry, ma’am, but if it’s not on the shelves, we won’t have it. The [Brand] trucks haven’t done their rounds recently.”

Customer: “Why aren’t you ordering more?!”

Me: “I don’t do the orders, ma’am. I just stock the shelves.”

Customer: “So, you’re incompetent? Get me your manager!”

This old lady screams at my manager and demands that I be reprimanded in some fashion because it’s totally my fault the truck orders didn’t bring in her oatmeal. She ends her rant with this gem.

Customer: “I’m never coming back here again! You have lost a customer today!”

I saw the same lady walking around the aisles a few days later, and I noticed that we had the oatmeal she thought was worth verbally gutting an employee over. I threw a box in her cart and just stared at her until she sheepishly headed toward the checkout.
