(I am watching TV with my grandmother. The Big Bang Theory episode in which Sheldon is playing Words with Friends with Stephen Hawking is playing.)
Grandmother: *turning to me* “Now, who is Stephen Hawking?”
Me: “He’s a scientist.”
Grandmother: “He’s the real smart guy who, like, talks like a robot?”
Me: “Yeah.”
Grandmother: “But is that real life?”
Me: “Wha-”
Grandmother: “I mean, is he a real guy?”
Me: “Y-yes.”
(I consider explaining a bit who he is, but realize I’d be wasting my breath.)
