Let’s See How This Develops

I was selling VHS cameras back in the mid-1980s when they were heavy suitcase-like boxes you had to carry around with a shoulder strap, wired to a handheld camera. After explaining to someone one day how these devices worked, they then asked:

Customer: “How long does it take to develop the VHS tapes once you have recorded on them?”

It was tempting to fetch a cardboard box from the back, draw some dials on it with a marker, and sell it to her as a developer, but in the end, I didn’t do that.
