(I have a nervous laugh and anxiety. When our system starts malfunctioning during a rush, there’s some understandably annoyed customers, which spikes my anxiety. To compensate, I act bubbly and optimistic, trying to deflect complaints while I fight with the system.)
Customer: Well, you’re all smiles and laughs while the system’s being so difficult.
Me: (through a smile) Trust me, the laughs are only to mask the screaming I’m doing inside.
