I’m working the drive thru on a Thursday afternoon. It’s just after the lunch rush when this happens:
Me: What can we get for you today?
Customer: I’ll take a BLT on white toast and a cheeseburger.
Me: Will that be all for you today?
Customer: Yes, ma’am.
Me: All right, your total is [total] at the first window.
Customer: Uh, ma’am?
Me: Yes, sir?
Customer: I’m going across the street to Speedway. I’ll be right back in a few minutes, OK?
Me: *looks at the manager who laughs and nods her head* Uh…sure?
The customer leaves the drive thru and comes back five minutes later.
