When Villains Die It Can Mean Both
(I am about eight years old. I’m reading an article about various James Bond villains. Most of the characters listed have ‘deceased’ written next to their names.)
Me: “Dad, what does deceased mean?”
Dad: “To move downwards.”
(I look at the article in confusion. It’s an embarrassingly long time before I realize that he thought I said ‘descend’.)
