Turning The Demands All The Way Up To Eleven

(At the fast food joint where I work, we prepare our food just before we open to make sure it’s as fresh as we can get it. Before we open, we have to do prep, get stocked, etc. During my prep, I look over at the drive-thru monitor and see a car waiting at the menu for a few minutes and then driving up to the window. All outside lights are off and it clearly states that we open in twenty minutes.)

Me: *opens drive-thru window* “Hi there. I’m sorry, but we open at 11.”

Customer: “Yeah, but it’s twenty minutes to.”

Me: “Well, we don’t have any products to sell you at the moment.”

Customer: *rudely* “Why?”

Me: “Because we’re not open yet; everything is still cooking.”

Customer: “Why didn’t you make it earlier?”

Me: *flabbergasted* “Because we don’t open until 11.”
