We are on vacation in France. I decided to get a free coffee from ikea using my ikea family discount.

When I reach the kiosks in the cafe, I find that the discount works a bit differently in france, i need to also buy a pastry for .75 euro.

As I am american and america is slow to adopt this technology, My credit card is not touch enabled, I insert it for chip reading.

Instead of letting me insert my PIN it says ‘signature required’ and a little red light comes on over me.

I wait five minutes before I decide that this isn’t worth the wait and leave.

Since the Ikea is near my hotel, out of curiosity, I come back that evening, several hours later, and see that the red light is still on over my kiosk and it still says ‘signature required’
