(I’m sitting in the computer room TRYING to enjoy some peace and quiet when my 16 yr old son comes barging in.)

Me: Please get out.

Son: How often do we get to spend some mother/daughter time together???

Me: Never. You’re not my daughter…

Son: I realized that after I said it…

(I’m walking through a textile exhibit centered around cochineal, a red dye from the Americas.)

Man #1: *stifling a laugh while reading a sign*

Man #2: *starts reading it and also has to muffle a laugh*

(I go to read the sign. It talks about how Spain gained a lot of wealth by trading the dye during colonial days, but it was also very dangerous because other countries kept pillaging shipments. The largest load ever stolen from a Spanish ship was 55,000 pounds of dye taken by an English earl. The last sentence reads, “The earl instantly became known as a hero throughout England.”)

Man #1: *whispering to his friend* “One man’s pirate is another man’s hero.”

(this is a regular call for us on an almost daily basis)

Me: Thank you for calling [pharmacy] this [name] how can I help you?

Caller: Yeah I would like to get my medication refilled

Me: Okay I would be happy do to that do you have your rx #

Caller: No

Me: Okay whats your date of birth and name

(caller gives information)

Me: Okay what medication would you like refilled

Caller: The one I get every month

Me: Do you know the name of it or maybe what the drug is for?

Caller: I don’t know I call and get it every month I think it’s the little green pill

(usually it takes a few minutes to figure out what they are asking for if you even can, not to mention that most people who have these calls have been on these medications for more than just a month usually it’s around 15 years or so

(On this day, we were in biology. Our biology room and computer lab are connected by a single door, and this means that we can often hear each other through the door. We are taking notes, when suddenly…)

Computer Lab: *plays John Cena music*

Most of the class: JOHN CENA!

Teacher: Quiet down, everyone! *opens the connecting door and looks in* Huh, no one’s in there…

Computer Lab: *music stops*

Teacher: Uh… *walks back to desk* Well, it doesn’t look like it’s going to happen again, so let’s keep taking notes.

(Ten minutes later…)

Computer Lab: *plays music again*

Teacher: JOHN CENA!! *slams elbow on desk*

Everyone: *causes havoc*

*Fast forward a few minutes later, after the music has long since stopped*

Teacher: Well, since I can’t calm anyone down now, let’s just forget the notes until tomorrow.

(my brother passed on 5 months ago & my 5 yr old is still coming to terms with it randomly talking about him we get my brothers mail & usually i put it in the trash this is what happens now everytime my 5 yr old sees my brothers name on the mail)

5 yr old (holding mail): can we send this to heaven

Me: sure we do that when we throw it away

5 yr old: na ah thats not how you get to heaven
