Unable To Replicant The Problem

| Working | March 11, 2017

(I decide to pick myself up a new boys-toy and find a Blade Runner-inspired light-up umbrella. It rains a week or so later and I’m very disappointed to find that not only does the light not work properly but the handle is so poorly made it breaks apart. I take it back to the shop.)

Me: “Hi, I brought this umbrella and it broke on the first try.”

Worker: “How do I know you didn’t do it?”

Me: *taken aback* “Er, well, even if I did the light doesn’t work properly.”

Worker: “Where’s the receipt?”

Me: “I don’t have it, but as the only place that sells these it must be from you.”

Worker: *throwing the umbrella back at me* “No receipt, no refund!”

Me: “I can show you on a bank statement where I bought it.”

Worker: “No receipt, no refund!”

Me: “The sales of good act states that a part must be in fit-for-purpose condition and that only a proof of purchase is required.”

Worker: “Whatever. Just grab another one.”

(The shop went out of business six months later.)
