The Teacher Is Way Signed Out
(I have a dentist appointment to get a filling for a cracked tooth. I attend math class, knowing that I will be picked up during it. The phone rings…)
Teacher: “Yes… [My Name]…”
(At this point, I look up, wide-eyed and get ready to leave.)
Teacher: “Yes, she’s here… okay.”
(The teacher hangs up and sits at her desk. I wait patiently for a few moments, but she doesn’t say anything. Wondering if it was a fluke, I continue on the worksheet we have been given. 10 minutes later, the phone rings again…)
Teacher: “Hello… oh!”
(The teacher looks at me wide-eyed.)
Teacher: “I’m sorry; I apparently didn’t tell her.”
(The teacher turns to me.)
Teacher: “[My Name], it appears you are signed out. I thought I told you; I’m sorry.”
Me: *smiling* “It’s no big deal!”
(It really isn’t, at least until my mother spots me walking down the hall…)
Mom: “What took you so long? I’ve been waiting forever!”
