Not Always Recording

(My friend returns from work at a retail store, and she looks incredibly frustrated.)

Friend: “I hate my job!”

Me: “Was it that bad today?”

Friend: “It’s like these people have never received any education whatsoever!”

Me: “You know there’s this website where you can tell the world how bad these customers are.”

Friend: “And how does that even help me? I don’t care about sharing my story I just want it to end! I’m only working there because my aunt owns the store and I’m sick and tired of being treated like… What are you doing?”

(My friend notices that I have taken a notepad and have been recording the conversation.)

Me: “Oh, don’t pay attention to me. Please, go on.”
