A Penmanship For All Eternity

| Related | September 29, 2015

(When writing, my mom prefers to use pens, while I prefer to use pencils. Whenever I ask her to sign a form for school, she always asks me for a pen. I almost never keep pens in my pencil pouch.)

Mom: “Can you please give me a pen?”

Me: “Ugggggghhhhhh. Can’t you just use a pencil?”

Mom: “Pencil marks smear. They erase too easily.”

Me: “Pen marks can NEVER be erased. I could put them there and they will stay there until I graduate. They will stay there until I die. They will stay there until my great-grandchildren die. They will stay there until the pyramids crumble and the polar ice caps melt. They will stay there until the human race itself comes to an end. And when aliens come to Earth, and find the last remnants of human civilization, the pen marks will still… be… there.”
