A Colorful Upbringing
(I’m mixed: my dad is black while my mom is white. I’m more dark skinned like my dad. I’m about five years old when this happens.)
Me: “Mom… if you married [Roommate] instead of Dad, would I have been white like you?”
(Note: Roommate is a white guy that lives with us.)
Mom: *gasps* “What are you saying! Children shouldn’t say stuff like that! Who taught you to?”
Me: “[Older Sister]…”
(Mom went and gave a talking to to my older sister, who had completely forgotten!)
