Unfiltered Story #326676

, | Unfiltered | April 29, 2024

At my middle school (grades 7 and 8), we would go to different classrooms for different classes, but the class moved as a unit rather than each student having our own schedules like in high school. Thus, while the students all knew what other students in the class were currently learning, this didn’t extend to the teachers.

One day, our homeroom teacher/French teacher went off on a tangent while teaching, leading to this remark:

French Teacher: “I mean, what even is normal? It doesn’t exist! There’s no such thing as normal.”

What she was not expecting was a science lesson.

Classmate: “Actually, a ‘normal’ is a line drawn perpendicular to the surface of a mirror to determine the angle of reflection.”

Poor, baffled French Teacher didn’t know we were studying mirrors and angles of reflection in science at the time. But twenty years later, I still remember what “normal” really is!
