Unfiltered Story #326595

I have a 22 year old coworker who as soon as she sees me with a book asks me questions about my reading; and seems really interested. One day I ask her.
Me: and what do you read?
Coworker : oh I used to read for a while but I stopped in high school.
Me : ah ?
Coworker : yes; as I had little means and my father was often too busy to accompany me elsewhere than in high school (NB : she lived in the country). I borrowed my books in the school library. And you know I also like reality TV.
Me : yes
Her : every time I went there, I had comments from the librarian in the mode “huh? You like to read too. I thought you only liked reality TV”. I got tired of the comments; I stopped going to get them.
Clearly not kudos to this librarian who could have helped a reality show fan develop a taste for reading but almost succeeded in turning her off reading instead
