Unfiltered Story #325730

| Unfiltered | April 18, 2024

Ran a paint shop in a dept store. Was able to direct salespeople to do tasks. A local business owner is hired to run the Home Improvement area(hardware/paint/plumbing sales). He took away any supervisory power I had, would not order stock in quantities needed(esp for 3-day weekends), and ignored the rights of workers. I worked a 19-hour shift(0930-0430) in preparation for a visit from the VP of Company in conjunction with Black Friday(along with coming back to work at 0930 after leaving at 0430). Was low level management so was introduced to the gentleman. He asked how I as doing; I was honest and forthright and told him how I was doing after that 19hr shift. The next day, that manager threatened bodily harm on me if I ever did something like that again. A few months later, I was “downsized” and he was promoted to Asst Store Manager. I got the last laugh. That company went out of business after over 150 years.
