One winter morning, I as leaving the gym after a workout and found myself in a situation I had never anticipated.
My purse and cold-weather clothes were safely stowed in a changing-room locker. And, leaning against that same locker, was a very old, very naked woman who spoke only Chinese.
It took some hand-gesturing and input from the swimsuit-clad women she’d been chatting with to finally get across why I needed her to move. Still makes me feel awkward, just writing about it.
