Unfiltered Story #249590

Note: this happened in the 1970’s, so terms from that era are used.
I have just moved into my first non-student apartment. Shortly after that, I receive a phone call.
Caller: Fred?
Me: Sorry, wrong number.

This goes on for several months, with different callers. Obviously, “Fred” had this number before me.

But one day:
Caller: Hello, Fred?
Me: Sorry, wrong number.
Caller: Don’t give me that! I just saw your brother yesterday, and…
Me: *cutting him off* You can say whatever you want, but THIS ISN’T FRED!
Caller: Do you know his number?
Me: No! Call Directory Assistance.
Caller: Who?
Me: INFORMATION! (slams down receiver)
