Unfiltered Story #248854

My sister-in-law has the same first name as I do, and since I changed my name when I married her brother and she still has her maiden name. Since it is a very common female name, she started using a variation of it that differs from my name by one letter (rather like “Jon” vs “John”) to distinguish herself from her colleagues. She had only just started using [social media app] when this story takes place. I’ve just called my husband from work, and he answers the phone a little blurrily.

Me: “Did I wake you up?”
DH: “Tell me more about how I rock.”
Me: “…um… what? Did I miss something? Did you do something I was supposed to know about.”
DH: “Was I supposed to do something?”
Me: “No, but you said to tell you how you rock.”
DH: “That’s how you signed off on [app] this morning. Why’d you ask if I was asleep?”
Me: “You seemed confused. And you do rock, but… look. We’re just confusing each other. I called because [details small task I need done].”

That evening…

Me: “You said that I said you rocked on [app]. But I wasn’t on [app] at work.”
DH: “Oh. That must have been my sister. No wonder you were confused.”

The next evening…

Me: “Wait. Did you have an ENTIRE [private messaging app] conversation with you sister thinking she was me????!!!”
DH: “I was REALLY hoping you wouldn’t figure that out.”
