Unfiltered Story #246135
A couple weeks into my job I forgot my nametag. My commute is long enough that it wasn’t worth driving home and back just to get it, and my manager is a practical one who agreed, and had something else in mind:
Manager: “Come with me to the back”. (we went)
Manager (handing me a nametag with “Stephen” on it): “Today, your name is not [my name], it is Stephen.”
Me: “Uh…”
Manager: “A nametag is an important part of the uniform. If someone from corporate or a secret shopper sees you without a nametag, both of us would look bad. Understand?”
Me: “Oh, I see.”
I went the whole day without anyone noticing. That manager was clever.
