Unfiltered Story #245846
I work as a front desk agent at a relatively upscale hotel downtown in a large city where I live. One night, my coworker has gone home early due to illness, so I’m alone for a couple of hours which means that I have to answer every single phone call. We’re receiving a lot of them for some reason, but I’m doing my best to keep up with them. One of the last ones I got went like this:
Me: Thank you for calling [hotel]. This is [name], how may I assist?
Customer: Hi, yes, I have stayed there multiple weeks over the past few months and I see you’re booked up next week. Is there any way to make a booking?
Me: …
Me: Unfortunately not as we are sold out on two of those dates.
Customer: Okay, so is there nothing we can do about that even given my status?
Me: No, sir, I’m afraid it’s first come, first-served on the rooms unfortunately.
Customer: Ah… alright… thank you.
I’m not sure what on earth this man was thinking. That we were just going to deny someone else a room to cater to him?
Question of the Week
Have you ever served a bad customer who got what they deserved?
