The ‘FF’ Word
(My girlfriend is an early years primary school teacher. I helped her plan a phonics activity for words with a double FF sound. We used the Three Little Pigs tale because it repeats “Huff” and “Puff” quite a lot. She is showing me some examples of the children’s work. Note, these children at five or six years old.)
Her: “Look at this one; I don’t know what to do.”
Me: “Hmm?”
Her: “[Child #1] has got the FF basics down… but the sentence as a whole…” *she picks up the child’s work and reads it to me* “I want to huff and puff and blow your pants down.”
Me: “Uh-oh.”
Her: “That might be why [Child #2] just wrote ‘I want to kiss [Child #1].'”
