Once In Retail, Always In Retail

I am on my day off, shopping in a department store in a larger city when a person from my hometown approaches me.

Hometown Customer: “What are you doing here! You should be back home, working!”

It’s hard to tell from her tone of voice if she’s joking or not.

Me: “It’s my day off and I have every right to be here.”

She then hands me a toy from the department store.

Hometown Customer: “Go do a price check.”

Me: *Handing it back.* “I don’t work here.”

I walked off. The best part, she still complained to my manager!
