Knock Down Conversation

| Romantic | November 13, 2016

(We bought an old house six months ago and have been slowly fixing it up.)

Husband: *kind of excited* “Hey, I just remembered. Mom suggested that we knock that wall down between the kitchen and mudroom. Would make the kitchen feel much bigger.”

Me: *gazing at him uncertainly for a moment* “Seriously?”

Husband: “Yeah, when we were on the phone last night.”

Me: *still uncertain* “Are you teasing me?”

Husband: *confused* “No…”

Me: “You know, I’ve already suggested that to you. Twice. I got discouraging grunts out of you in response. My impression was you didn’t think it was a good idea. Don’t you remember?”

Husband: *silence, then sheepish grin as memory dawns* “Yeah, now that you mention it, I do remember you bringing it up before…” *very sheepish now* “I love you.”

(I laughed. He can be such a goober, but I love him.)
