In Receipt Of Your Own Advice

(My mom is cleaning out the closet where we keep all the wrapping paper and ribbons, which also ends up being the place where most of us do our gift wrapping.)

Mom: “This place is such a mess. Why is this family so messy and disorganized? Look, here’s a receipt. Probably from last Christmas. No, look, it’s from two years ago! This is ridiculous.”

Me: “Can I see that?”

Mom: “Sure, why? Is it yours?”

Me: “Well, I want to see what was bought, maybe I can figure out whose it was.”

(She hands me the receipt.)

Me: “This has [thing that we’ve only bought once] on it… Mom, you bought that. This is your receipt.”
