A Troubling Course Of Reasoning
(My mum has just called (screamed) me into the kitchen.)
Me: “What?”
Mum: “You already know what. Apologise to [Brother]!”
Me: “What for?”
Mum: “I don’t want excuses. Just do it!”
Me: “But I genuinely don’t know why.” *to Brother* “What have I done?”
Brother: “I don’t know. I was just sitting her and she suddenly turned into a foghorn.”
Me: “Well, I’m not apologising until I know why.”
Mum: “Surely you know!”
(I shake my head.)
Mum: “[Brother]?”
(He shakes his head.)
Mum: “Well, it must be something. Didn’t you do it yesterday? Oh, whatever it is. You haven’t been in trouble in a while so you’re due.”
(So I’m in trouble for not being in trouble… great. I can’t wait till I’m old enough to move out.)
