A Silly Habibi

(My husband and I sometimes get a little silly. This time, I come home and greet him the regular way.)

Me: “Hi, Baby!”

Husband: “Hi, Baby!”

(We start the silliness:)

Me: “Hi, Babyyy!”

Husband: “Hi, Babee!”

Me: “Hi, Beebee!”

Husband: “Hai, Beebee!”

Me: “Habibi! Wait… Isn’t that an actual word?”

Husband: “Yeah. Arabic, I think…”

Me: “God, I hope it doesn’t mean anything insulting. Google it!”

Husband: *reading from Wikipedia* “Habibi is an Syriac-Aramaic and Arabic word whose literal meaning is my beloved.”

Me: “Aww, how sweet! Habibi!”

Husband: “Habibiii!”
