Drink In The Reality

(My mother, stepfather, brother, and I have gone out for dinner. In Australia the legal drinking age is 18.)

Mother: “What would everyone like to drink?” *to me* “Coke?”

Me: “Bourbon?”

Mother: “You are NOT having bourbon.”

Me: “Why not?!”

Mother: “Because you’re too… oh, you’re 18 now, aren’t you?”

Me: “Only for the last EIGHT MONTHS!”

Mother: “Bourbon it is!”
