(Bra)cing Yourself For Change
(I am 15 years old and watching TV in my room, when my older brother wanders in to ask me something.)
Brother: *goes quiet*
Me: “[Brother]?”
Brother: *quietly walks over to my desk and picks up the bra I’d left there earlier* “Is this yours?!”
Me: “Err, yeah.”
Brother: “But, but you’re just a kid!”
Me: *offended* “I’m 15, [Brother].”
(Later, my mother told me he wasn’t handling well how I was starting to ‘fill out,’ and he even asked if I’d been fitted correctly. It certainly took him a few years to realise I wasn’t going to be a kid forever!)
