(My father in law had just passed from cancer, and my mother in law who I never met had passed, also from cancer, 5 years earlier. My husband, sister in law, and I are cleaning out their fathers bedroom, when I trip over a very hard box)

Husband: [my name] Meet my mother!

Me: That’s not even right!

(While I was horrified I had tripped over my mother in laws ashes, they hooted with laughter, and told me their mother would have laughed just as hard. Glad they could find humor in such a sad time in their lives, even if it was at my expense!)
