These Students Are Ethically Lacking

(All the Ph.D. students in our college of medicine have to take a research ethics class. It’s basically human subject rights, animal cruelty regulation, conflict of interest, research integrity, and the like. Some find it interesting, but there is a large portion of the class who are there to hoop jump, and they don’t care. What’s more, it’s a pass/fail class. If you come to class and the discussions, you pass, so a lot of people don’t really listen. The professor has just finished her lecture which she had obviously put a lot of thought into developing.)

Professor: “Are there any questions?” *looks around the room at the disinterested faces* “Nope. Nobody cares. Bye!”

(She played it off, but I kind of felt bad for her.)
