You’re Supposed To Protect My Money From Myself!
I work for a bank’s fraud and disputes unit.
Customer: “I am disputing this $100 charge from [Major Car Insurance Company].”
Me: “Okay, sir, do you have insurance through them?”
Customer: “Yes.”
Me: “Did you cancel it and they still charged you?”
Customer: “No.”
Me: “Did they overcharge you?”
Customer: “No.”
Me: “Did you pay with cash or another credit card?”
Customer: “No.”
Me: “What exactly is the dispute?”
Customer: “I did not want them to charge my card!”
Me: “Did you call them before the date of transaction to not charge the card?”
Customer: “No.”
Me: “Then, sir, we cannot dispute this for you.”
Customer: *Curses at me* “You’re my bank. You’re supposed to do what I tell you.”
Me: “Sorry, sir, but not in this case.”
