(For the second day of the Jewish New Year, it is customary to eat a fruit you have not eaten during the past year. My family bought a coconut. We did not know how to open a coconut. A day and a long argument later, I come to my physics teacher with the following question:)
Me: “Dr. [Teacher], I have a science question. I know this might sound ridiculous, but I’m trying to prove a point. First, how would you calculate the force with which a coconut will hit the ground when thrown from approximately five feet in the air? Second, would this amount of force be enough to break a bathtub?”
