Y’all Got Any Of Them Internets?

Back in the day, I worked as a phone tech for Netscape. I mean way back when you could buy it in a box at the mall for $19.99.

Caller: “I can’t browse anything!”

I went through the usual checks.

Me: “Is your modem plugged in?”

Caller: “My what?”

Me: “Your modem, to connect to the Internet on your computer.”

Caller: “I ain’t got no modem!”

Me: “Then how are you expecting to get on to the Internet?”

Caller: “I just picked up this AOL CD! The box says, ‘All you need to browse the World Wide Web!'”

I spent another fifteen minutes on the phone trying to explain to him how the Internet worked.

Caller: “Bah! All that just to read things on a computer? No one will do all that! The Internet’ll be dead by Christmas!”
