Wrong Order, Wrong Attitude
I finish making an order for [Customer #1], an older man, and call out what it is; we don’t take customer names. [Customer #2] walks up to the counter.
Customer #2: “What was that?”
Me: “Small cup and a medium shake; I believe it’s for [Customer #1].” *Points at him*
Customer #2: “Oh, we’re all together!”
She takes the bag from me, steps to the side, and starts looking inside. I step away and start making another order.
Customer #2: *To [Coworker #1]* “Um, excuse me. My order is all wrong! This cup is the wrong flavor and I was supposed to have four shakes, not one.”
Coworker #1: “Okay, I can make those for you right now.”
Meanwhile, [Coworker #2] is currently making her order in plain view of the counter. When she gets her order, she starts taking the things out of her bag and attempting to fit her five items into a bag meant for two.
Coworker #2: “Miss, can I get you a bigger bag?”
Customer #2: “I think you’ve done quite enough.”
Coworker #2: “I’m sorry, what?”
Customer #2: “You completely messed up my entire order and you never even apologized for it.”
Everyone has stopped working to listen to this conversation.
Me: “Ma’am, I think you just accidentally grabbed the wrong bag; the one you grabbed was meant for [Customer #1], which is why it wasn’t what you ordered.”
Customer #2: “How dare you blame me?! This is not my fault!”
Me: “No one is blaming you; it was a simple mistake and easy enough to fix.”
I go to hand her another bag for her items but she hands them to her son, who has been standing silently watching all this happen, and storms off. [Customer #1] walks up to the window.
Me: “I’m so sorry, sir. I’ll remake your order for you as fast as I can.”
Customer #1: “Oh, take your time; that was entertaining for me but probably not so much for you.”
