Working Here Is A Smash!
During college, I am working part-time at a store known for home decor and kitchen accessories. I am closing around 8 PM at the registers when I hear a loud crash from somewhere else in the store. My first instinct is some kind of emergency so immediately I run towards the sound of yelling.
The loss prevention guy sees me and immediately tells me:
Loss Prevention: “Go back to the registers. I got this.”
Later I am asked to help clean up some blood from the incident – we have proper sanitation equipment to do this without it becoming a hazard. I eventually ask the loss prevention guy what happened.
Loss Prevention: “Some lady injured herself on purpose and got blood everywhere. She’s in the restrooms right now; she keeps yelling that she’s going to sue the company.”
Me: “Are you sure she did it on purpose?”
Loss Prevention: *Nods.* “I saw the whole thing on the security cameras. She literally threw a large piece of pottery to the ground and then chose to lay down in it.”
I end up seeing the lady on her way out, her injury appears minor.
Customer: “I’m filing a lawsuit! You guys are messed up!”
We end up leaving an hour after we were supposed to because of the mess. I can’t wait until her lawyer sees the video footage and comes to the same conclusion the rest of us did.
